![]() Whatever the case, Grand Ages: Rome attempts to reset the name of the franchise but ultimately fails to bring any compelling new ideas to the gameplay. Anyone who's played either of those games will see the continuity in Grand Ages: Rome but it's not something that the publisher seems eager to promote. Some of you will be swayed by the box's mention of 4X strategy and "massive armies" but it's only through ignorance or willful deception that this game would be advertised as anything other than "Yet another Roman city builder with shallow combat." Perhaps it's an attempt on the publisher's part to distance the title from the lackluster city builder genre after all, they've certainly distanced the game from the two previous games in the series, Glory of the Roman Empire and Imperium Romanum, which were rather unspectacular. First, there's a mistake in the marketing message for this game.
